Draft Resolution on the Takoma Junction Development Now Posted

Dear Neighbors:

Last night the City posted a draft resolution on the Takoma Junction development -- along with background information -- that has been put together in preparation for a potential July 25 City Council vote on the development Site Plan:  https://documents.takomaparkmd.gov/government/city-council/agendas/2018/council-20180711-3.pdf

The Council is scheduled to discuss the resolution and the project at next week's Council meeting on July 11. I'll be circulating detailed information with my thoughts on the resolution in the coming days.

I would add that, while I had substantial input into its drafting (as did all Councilmembers), I'm not supportive of the resolution in its current form because I continue to have concerns about the site plan, particularly around the amount of public space and the height of the proposed building. I'll be exploring whether it will be possible to make some changes in those and other areas.

Reminder -- on Monday of next week (July 9) there's an opportunity for residents to speak one-on-one with Councilmembers about the Junction project. The event will be taking place at the New Hampshire Avenue Recreation Center starting at 7:30 PM. The initial sign-up period ended yesterday, but there may be additional time slots available (please let me know if you're interested in that).

Residents are of course welcome to meet with me separately. Just send me an email or call me, and we can arrange a mutually convenient time.
