Welcome to my blog, which features frequent updates on local Takoma Park issues, including City Council meeting agendas, plus occasional commentary on national news and politics.

December 7, 2015 City Council Meeting

Dear Neighbors:

The following is a link to the agenda for tomorrow's City Council meeting: http://takomaparkmd.gov/meeting_agendas/monday-december-7-2015-special-session-and-work-session-of-the-city-council/

Items on the agenda include two votes on ordinances relating to renovation of the Colby Park Playground (which were discussed and approved on preliminary votes last week, and which I will be voting for tomorrow); a vote on the resolution adopting City Council rules, which I am also voting for; and initial discussion of proposed amendments to the City Noise Ordinance, and the 21st Century Community Learning Centers Grant.

The key changes in the City Council procedures are shifting the regular meeting time of the Council, starting in January, from Monday nights to Wednesday nights, and clarifying the procedures relating to public comments that may exceed the standard three-minute time limit.

With regard to the Noise Ordinance, tomorrow will be the first opportunity for public consideration of potential changes. Suggestions for amendments to the ordinance are welcome.

Finally, there will be a discussion about the possibility of the City supplementing the Federal Government 21st Century Community Learning Centers Grant afterschool program to enable it to be a full-week program (as opposed to four days).
